Episode 143: Preparing the Pelvic Floor for Birth and Beyond Insights from Kath Baquie

Hey Mamas!

In our latest podcast episode, we interviewed Kath Baquie, a mom of 3 young girls, a physiotherapist for women, and the mom behind the online community FitNest Mama.

We touch on how we only hear what we’re ready to hear so when it comes to motherhood sometimes we feel like no one warned us or prepared us for what was to come when in reality maybe they had or at least tried to but we just we’re ready to hear it yet or it wasn’t necessary.

Rest is so important in the postpartum period because you may feel great but there are muscles and parts of you that still desperately need healing and you need to be cared for. Our bodies are amazing, but it’s important to point out that the pelvic floor stretches 300% during birth and other muscles such as a hamstring can only stretch 80-90% before it completely tears so it desperately needs time to heal.

Remember, we don’t need to be an expert in everything, there are people who are experts that are ready and willing to help us during this time in our lives. Knowing your options and finding resources in your area can be a huge benefit to improving your overall motherhood experience.
